Frequently asked questions
💡 What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?
Direct Primary Care is a membership-based model where you pay your doctor directly—no insurance needed. This means more time for you, easier access to your physician, and a stronger relationship built on trust and personalized care.
Insurance-driven healthcare prioritizes quantity over quality, and does not allow for personalized care or direct access to your doctor. A membership-based model removes insurers and other third-parties from your healthcare decisions. Your health is all that matters.
💰 Wait- you don’t take insurance? Why should I pay for DPC on top of my insurance premium?
TLDR: Better primary care. No bureaucracy. More time for you. 30-60 minute visits and no waiting room! No copayments or hidden charges. Direct access to your physician. HOME VISITS!
🚫 The Problem
Insurance-based healthcare isn’t working—for anyone! Not for patients, and not for doctors.
Today’s system prioritizes quantity over quality, pushing doctors to rush through visits and treat symptoms instead of supporting long-term health. Did you know that less than half of your doctor’s time is spent face-to-face with patients? Instead they are bogged down with meaningless insurance paperwork. It leaves patients feeling like numbers and doctors overwhelmed and burnt out. Visits are brief, relationships are impersonal, and true healing is often overlooked. We all lose in a system that dehumanizes care.
n a traditional clinic, providers often care for thousands of patients. In DPC, your provider sees only a few hundred—giving you more time, more access, and more personalized attention.
✅ The Solution: Why Direct Primary Care Just Makes Sense
💛 More Thoughtful Care
With fewer barriers and no insurance red tape, we have the time and space to focus on what really matters—your health. We can look deeper into concerns, catch problems early, and treat the whole person, not just the diagnosis.
🤝 Stronger Relationships
Instead of rushing through packed schedules, DPC allows us to spend real time together. You can reach out when you need to—and feel confident your doctor knows you, listens to you, and truly cares.
💰 Lower Overall Costs
Better access leads to better outcomes. With DPC, patients avoid unnecessary ER trips and specialist visits, reduce the need for costly medications or procedures, and enjoy more affordable labs and imaging. On average, total healthcare costs drop by 20–30%.
🏡 Reimagining Healthcare, One Home Visit at a Time
Direct Primary Care creates the space to reimagine what healthcare should feel like—personal, connected, and accessible. By removing insurance barriers, we’re free to design care around your real-life needs. That means longer visits, home-based care, and the ability to text, call, or email your doctor directly. It’s a return to the kind of relationship-centered care that puts people first—and a step forward into a more thoughtful, flexible, and humane model of medicine.
🧾 Do I still need insurance?
Yes! DPC pairs well with a high-deductible plan with a lower monthly premium for emergencies. You’ll have your everyday care covered, better access to your doctor, and peace of mind for any emergencies or catastrophic illness.
Your insurance plans will continue to operate “as usual” at other doctors’ offices, hospitals, labs, and pharmacies.
Some HMO-style plans do require an “in-network” primary care doctor for access to other services, so these plans do not pair as well with membership at Wandercare. Please check with your insurance company.
